Greg Leib, IBCA HOF Coach, has won over 400 games, most of them for Belleville Althoff. His teams have won 9 Regionals, 3 Sectionals, but the real highlight came in 2016, winning the State Title. Greg also coached Althoff to a 2nd place finish in 2015.

One of our best is Tyra Buss. She was Ms. Basketball IL. in 2013 & 14, IL. Gatorade POY & All-State. Tyra led her Mt. Carmel, IL. Team to a 112-16 record while averaging 38 ppg & 5.5 spg. Buss attended I.U & is their all-time leading scorer (2,364) & also in assists & steals.

Centralia H.S. Boys Basketball Coach Lee Bennett is one of the finest coaches in Illinois. Going into the 22-23 season Lee's teams have won 616 games. The IBCA HOF'er coached the Orphans to the state runner-up finish in 2011. Lee also had success at Dakota & Alton High Schools.

IBCA HOF Coach David Witzig of Normal Community H.S. has had a terrific run leading their boys basketball program. Going into this season his teams have won 468 x & earned 10 regional titles. David has also guided the Ironmen to a 4th & 2nd place finishes in the IHSA Tournament.

We tweeted a tribute to Adrienne (Dickerson) Range recently. We are saddened to share with you that our IBCA Hall of Fame teammate passed away May 10, @ the age of 41 from cancer. Adrienne was a great player @ Carthage H.S. & Illinois College. We know she is now in GOD'S HOF.

One of our toughest & best players is Jerry Sloan. In 1960, he was All-State @ McLeansboro H.S. & then led Evansville Univ. to Nat'l Titles. His jersey, #4 was the 1st jersey to be retired by the Bulls. Jerry is one the best coaches in NBA History.

There are so many great basketball coaches in Illinois. One we should never overlook is Dave Bennett of Pittsfield. Dave coached at Pittsfield from 1976 to 1999. He never had a losing season and he finished with a record of 527-146.

IBCA Charter Member Doug Collins may be the youngest to enter the IBCA HOF. Doug was an All-State player at Benton H.S & All-American at ISU. He is an Olympic hero & was the 1st pick in the 1973 NBA draft. Doug was also a terrific TV basketball analysist & successful NBA Coach.

One of the greatest basketball families in Illinois Basketball is the Douglas Family from Quincy. We were fortunate to meet with Keith & Dennis Douglas Friday night. Both are IBCA Hall of Fame Players who contributed greatly to the success of the Quincy H.S. basketball program.

In 2022, Donna (Luechtefeld) Tebbe was inducted into the IBCA HOF as a Player. She scored 1,855 pts. & grabbed a record 1,033 rebs. for Okawville High School. She was a 2x All-Stater & the Belleville News Democrat POY in 1990. Donna played at St. Louis Univ. & is in their HOF.

There are only 3 schools that have 2000 varsity wins. One of them is Collinsville. Note that Mrs. Violet Fletcher is the middle. This was a class act as she was the "Team Mom" for decades helping the love of her life Vergil. We did record a spirited oral history with Violet.

Chris Duerr has been a fixture as the KHOA-TV anchor in Quincy. Chris was chosen to receive the IHSA's Distinguished Media Award in 2018-19 school yr. Many will tell you he is Mr. Excitement in the Quincy Region. In 2019, Chris was inducted into the IBCA HOF as a Media Member.

We couldn't overlook Dee Brown, from Proviso East. In 2001 Dee was Mr. IL. Basketball & Gatorade Player of the Yr..At Illinois he helped lead them to the NCAA Title game & 37- 2 record. Dee was also Big 10 & Nat'l Player of the Year.

Karrie Redeker is only one of 17 individuals who are in the IBCA HOF as both a player & coach. She began her coaching career at Tolono Unity H.S. in 1999 where her teams won 158 x & won 5 regional titles. Karrie then went on to coach at Parkland College & Illinois Cent. College.

Illinois Basketball Fact: Kloe Frobe who led Lincoln H.S. to an undefeated state title finished her career scoring 3,262 pts. which is the 5th best in IHSA Girl's Basketball History. She also set IHSA State Tournament scoring records. Kloe has also been named 2024 Max Preps POY.
Russ Damhoff ended his triumphant 31 yr. career as the men's basketball coach @ Sauk Valley Comm. College in 2017. Russ earned several COY awards & his teams won 592 x. He is in the NJCAA Region IV HOF & in the IBCA HOF. Pictured with Russ is his wife Jackie @ the IBCA Banquet.
